Lamka, September 06 2011:
On the eve of a renown pop singer Jaw Malaw making his maiden performance in the district to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS, two local student bodies namely KSO and ZSF have expressed serious concern over the growing activities of anti-social elements in the society and increasing drug related crimes amongst the youths in recent times.
There are reports of sex related scandal, thief, robbery, fornication, child trafficking, fresh trade etc which were hitherto unknown to our forefathers and which are against the traditional tribal ethos, the two student bodies said in a joint statement that also claimed reported cases of excesses committed by both state forces and non-state actors while tackling the issue.
The student bodies also took serious note over the dangerous trend of communalise almost every issue in the State, be it petty thief or demand for legitimate rights.
Under these circumstances, it is necessary that the Govt learns to think 'out of the box' and addresses the grievances of tribal people.
