Imphal, September 06 2011:
Alleging that the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University-Regional Campus Manipur (IGNTU-RC Manipur) Prof CD Singh, a non-tribal, has been doing very little for infrastructure development of the regional campus even after the Government of Manipur had handed over a land of 300 acres at Makhan to the VC himself in 2010, the Tribal Students' Federation Manipur has demanded resignation of the VC on moral ground.
Not even a temporary arrangement for running class was made at the temporary site at Adimjati complex, Imphal.
Apart from this, his reservation policy in recruitment and admission was found to be completely anti-tribal.
There was a great resentment against the recently conducted recruitment of faculty for Regional Campus Manipur as the senior most contractual faculty and most qualified among the candidates as per UGC norms were not selected.
The same recruitment process should be declared null and void, the federation demanded.
Moreover, Office Assistant Sunita Devi should also be terminated for her alleged anti-tribal activities.
The federation has also been demanding 99 per cent reservation for tribal communities of Manipur in matters of appointment/recruitment and admission in the regional campus.
Other demands raised by the federation include declaration of first batch 2009-10 M Phil Political Science results, holding of M Phil and MA second semester exams immediately, framing a clear cut ordinance for the regional campus, immediate construction of infrastructure at Makhan and immediate provision of class room for M Phil, MA Political Science and MSW new batch.
Further, the federation has decided to boycott all non-tribal employees of the regional campus, it said in a release.
