Imphal, November 03 2015:
DESAM Thoubal District Council has asked the culprits, who not only vandalised their office but also thrashed a girl student yesterday, to give in to the student body at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters at DESAM head office, DESAM Thoubal District Council president Ravi Khongdongbam said that only a few girl students were present at their office when the incident happened as all their volunteers went out for college election.
Taking advantage of presence of less number of volunteers, AMSU Thoubal president along with his office executives and supporters came at DESAM office and vandalised the office.
They also thrashed a girl student of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, who was there in the office, by the AMSU members, he alleged.
Ravi said that such mindless attack must not be carried out by the volunteers of a students' body.
DESAM volunteers are ready to respond the culprits anywhere befittingly if they fail to surrender at DESAM Thoubal office at the earliest, Ravi cautioned.
DESAM head office secretary general Premchandra said that there were incidents of ransacking DESAM head office at Keishampat by the volunteers of some student bodies in the past as well.
However, DESAM has been restraining itself from resorting to similar actions as such incidents might create unrest and give unwanted results among students.
