The Relic of Don Bosco given farewell

The casket of Don Bosco was given the official welcome at a function held yesterday at Don Bosco, Chingmeirong before leaving Imphal for its onward journey to other places.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh was among other dignitaries who attended the welcome function.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that Manipur was lucky when many schools under the Don Bosco Society are running successfully.
Many prominent citizens had been produced by Don Bosco schools, he said expressing hopes that more will be produced in the future too.
People of the state knew the contribution of the Don Bosco Society in the state in the field of education and "I appreciate the society of this" said Ibobi who hopes that the society will continue such a priceless contribution to the state" .
Asserting that Don Bosco Society is serving in Manipur for the last 100 years, he said Christian missionaries under the society have been taking up many welfare works for the people of the state.
A great role is being taken by the missionaries in maintaining peace and harmony among the tribal, mostly in five hill districts of the state.
Seating member of Rajya Sabha, Rishang Keishing also attended the function in which hundreds of alumni and friends of Don Bosco attended.
After the official welcome at Don Bosco School Chingmeirong was over, the casket was taken to Keithelmanbi with a procession with motorcade.
The people welcomed Don Bosco, the father and friend of the young amidst band, dances and songs.
It may be noted that after its arrival on 29 April, and after a halt of a night at Littler Flower School, Imphal, the Relic of Don Bosco made a trip to the hill district of Tamenglong.
The Relic made several halts on the way at Khongsang and Awangkhul and finally reached Don Bosco School, Tamenglong on the next day where it was given a solemn welcome, with a night's vigil before it made the journey back to Imphal the next day.
