Film screening suspended

When suspension of screening of films in cinema halls in Imphal due to the banned imposed by a group of UGs, not only the employees of the cinema halls but also artistes and people related with production of Manipuri films come out to protest against the UGs' diktat.
According to sources, a group of KCP is demanding Rs 10 lakhs each from the cinema halls in Imphal area and hall proprietors have no choice but to close the halls as the amount militants are demanding in beyond their affordable limit.
Office bearers of the Film Forum Manipur, film directors, producers, cine artistes and others related with the entertainment world took part in the sit-in protest staged in front of the Usha Cinema, Paona Bazar.
They lamented that with the suspension of screening of films in the halls, their livelihood earning way has been put into an uncertainty state.
In due course of time Manipuri film industries has become an earning way of over 3000 people, film personality who took part in the sit-in protest said.
