Villagers hope for power supply before Christmas

Langkhong Ching, located north of Khudengthabi on the Imphal-Moreh road in Tengnoupal district is eagerly awaiting electricity supply as a Christmas gift this year.
This came to light during a visit to the village by a team of media persons today .
The village which is merely 7 kms away from Khudengthabi has no electricity and has roughly 200 people residing in the village with no educational establishment .
Speaking to media persons, the village chairman, KT Kothil said that the 40 years old village has been surviving without development of any sort.
With no water supply system, the villagers have to travel 3 kms up the slopes by foot, to fetch water .
The chairman stated that the authority concerned has been repeatedly urged to supply electricity to the village, for nearly twenty years, however, despite erection of few electric posts, there is still no electricity in the village .
The absence of school in the village has forced the children to go to Pallel, Kakching and Moreh for education .
With Christmas nearing, the chairman is hopeful that electricity will reach every household of the village and urged the BJP led State Government to supply electricity to the village before Christmas.
