One week bandh along Imphal-Moreh road

Imphal, November 30 2017:
The Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA), the apex body of the Maring tribe has announced today to impose one-week total bandh along Imphal-Moreh from December 1 demanding to expedite the road construction works in the Tengnoupal assembly constituency particularly road connecting the “Maring areas” .
In a statement, MUA president L Modun Charanga said that they had served seven days ultimatum to the State Government of Manipur on November 23, asking to begin the road construction works from November 30 .
However, no positive response from the State Government has come till today .
“The road has remained deplorable since from previous Congress government”, it said.
According to the MUA, the Maring community is hopeful that the new BJP government will hear the grievances amid hardships of the people .
It had earlier urged the authority concerned to start the construction work of the roads under 42 Tengnoupal AC, in which some portions even began after the sanctioning of fund under PMGSY & Special Pan Assistance (SPA) .
It also asked the government to take up all necessary measures to provide a smooth and passable road in the larger interest of the people.
