All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) celebrated its 45th foundation day at AMSU headquarters today.
Speaking as chief guest in the function, former AMSU President RK Itocha said that AMSU, which was established on August 28, 1965, is the oldest students body in the State.
Saying that many members of AMSU have sacrificed their lives for the betterment of the society, RK Itocha said that the people of the State must understand the roles of the students body.
Speaking at the occasion, former AMSU President Mongjam Abhiram said that people must share ideas in order to bring development in the State.
Maintaining that AMSU is the oldest students organisation in the State, Abhiram remembered the contributions made to the society by AMSU till date.
Former AMSU President H Badankumar said that AMSU has been fighting for the students' right and standing against social evils and wrongdoings.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the painting competition held on August 23 at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen and Mathematics competition conducted on August 22 at Scholar English School in the function.
Laimayum Jackson Sharma of Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, Naoroibam Anand of Eagle High School and Lairenlakpam Nareshkanta of JNV, Bishnupur got first, second and third prizes respectively in the painting competition.
Cash prizes of Rs 2500, Rs 2000 and Rs 1500 with mementos were given to first, second and third position holders.
Cash prize of Rs 500 with a certificate each were also handed over to seven consolation prize winners.
Top three participants each from Class VIII, IX and X categories got prizes of cash prize and memento in the Mathematics competition.
Two participants each were also selected for consolation prizes.
