Clarifying that there is no contract work nor issuing of work order under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West A Ibocha has informed that the henceforth the Government would give its stamp of approval to the works taken up under the scheme.
Talking to some reporters today, the officer informed that the works under the scheme in Imphal West have been taken up following written instruction from the State Government.
Even if there has been no approval of the works undertaken under the scheme, it has been ensured in the new rules.
So, there would be no effect on the works already taken up by the job card holders in Kodompokpi, Hiyangthang and Meijrao, the officer said.
As for the material component, the Deputy Commissioner said it would take some time to finalise.
Admitting that the pace of implementing the scheme has been rather slow, the Deputy Commissioner maintained that the execution of the scheme has been just started while on one hand, the State Government has yet to appoint the required SOs.
