Imphal, June 20:
UNLF has refuted the claim of the Imphal West Police Commandos that one woman cadre of the outfit had been arrested in connection with the incident of killing one Sanglai Akham, who was involved in extorting money from the people on June 13 at Chingmeirong as baseless and unfounded.
In a statement, senior publicity officer of UNLF Ksh Yoiheiba said that the woman cadre in question identified as Khujaimayum Thaballei alias Roshni d/o Kh Jayanta of Thangmeiband Laijing Ningthou had been retired from MPA some five months back on health ground.
Since then she has been staying at home and not keeping any contact with the outfit.
Moreover, the two accused identified as Acharyamayum Amarkumar (sic Amarkanta and Acharyamayum Neshabanta who have police claimed to have been arrested and detained in connection with the same incident have no connection or known to UNLF/MPA at all, Yoiheiba clarified, adding that as per the information collected by UNLF from local people, both of them are innocent persons.
It is the old habit of the Police commandos to arrest innocent people and later dubbed them as UGs and put all the blame on the UGs although they have not been able to solve any of the cases related to extortion and killing perpetrated by miscreants by misusing the name of the revolutionary outfits.
