Outreach programme concludes

A three-month special outreach programme on Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao concluded today at the conference hall of Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong.
Altogether 13 districts of Manipur and Nagaland were covered during the programme which advocated protection and education of girls, cleanliness and opening of bank accounts with zero balance.
Speaking at the concluding function, PHE Minister I Hemochandra stated that the public should cooperate with Government agencies instead of blaming the Government for disposing waste materials at public places which directly poses health risks.
Underscoring the importance of constructing low cost sanitary latrines compulsory for each and every household and disposal of waste materials at appropriate sites, Hemochandra called upon the people to stop unrestrained lumbering and spare some time for plantation of tree saplings in order to keep one's surrounding clean and healthy.
PHE Minister I Hemochandra, Directorate of Field Publicity (Manipur and Nagaland region) Director Dr Engam Pame, The People's Chronicle Editor G Babhesh and DDK Imphal News Editor Nando attended the function as presidium members.
Extensive awareness about Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan Yojana and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao were created in four districts of Nagaland and nine districts of Manipur in the course of the three-month programme which was kicked off on December 14 last year.
Public meetings, rallies, quiz and painting competitions were also held in the course of the programme, said Dr Engam Pame.
Social Welfare Department, State Bank of India, Rural Bank, local clubs, NGOs, civil society organisations and schools also supported and took part in the programme which was held under the aegis of the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
