MSRLM asked to provide toll free number for registering public grievances

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Th Biswajit Singh has instructed officials of the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) to provide a toll free number of the Mission through which the public specially the beneficiaries may air their grievances to the concerned authorities .
Addressing the closing function of the Regional SARAS Fair, 2017 held at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound today, the Minister expressed the need to organise interaction sessions with the Self Help Groups so as to build up the relations .
He said the National Rural Livelihoods Mission is implemented in Sawombung and Keirao Bitra blocks in Imphal East and in Tengnoupal and Machi blocks in Chandel districts.
The Mission being executed by the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission will be implemented in all the districts of the State, he added.
He elaborated that there are plans to take up the implementation in another 12 blocks this year and subsequently spread to all blocks by 2019-20 .
Informing that the Department requires at least 276 more staff for effective implementation of the Mission, he said that the Department is preparing to seek approval of the State Cabinet for recruitment of the necessary man-power at the earliest .
The Minister also spoke at length on women empowerment citing instances from his recent European tour .
Manipur will be developed only when both the hills and the valley are developed, he said.
The people should also understand that the Government alone cannot bring development.
Active participation from the public is required to bring all round development in the society, the Minister said .
Observing that there is an apparent need to change the mind-set of accepting bribes to put an end to corruption, he said that to err is to human and we all make mistakes .
He said that despite of all our mistakes, the common good of the society should always come first .
MSRLM State Mission Director, Pradeep Chandren said the purpose of the NRLM is to promote the marketing of the rural products and improve the livelihood of the rural poor .
Today's closing function was also attended by Principal Secretary (RD&PR) MH Khan, Manipur Rural Bank VP Chairman Dr Prasanna Kumar Pal among others.
