Imphal, May 10:
Doctors and nurses should work in such a way as to win faith of patients.
They should treat patients by understanding the psyche of different patients, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Gaikhangam while speaking at the oath taking and capping ceremony of the 28th batch of the Manipur Nursing Institute, Tentha today.
Speaking as chief guest, Gaikhangam conveyed deep concerned over the sense of distrust creeping between doctors and patients and their relatives in the last few months.
Whatever faith reposed in doctors and nurses by patients should never be lost by doctors.
Doctors should not do anything that may belie the hope of patients that they will recover if they are treated by doctors and nurses, Gaikhangam noted.
On the other hand, patients should acknowledge the service of doctors and nurses towards the people, he added.
Today function was graced by MLA M Hemanta, CMO Thoubal Dr Manglem and MLA I Hemochandra as guests of honour and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Hemanta noted the necessity for establishment of a PHSC at Tentha, CMO Manglem appealed to the Government doctors and trained nurses to serve people with sincerity.
