Imphal, May 10:
While conveying gratitude to the Ministerial team led by Phungzathang Tonsing for providing one truck load of rice and blankets and some other relief materials to the displaced Kuki villagers taking shelter at Moreh, the Kuki Movement for Human Rights, KSO Chandel and Hill Tribal Council observed that these relief materials were far too short of the actual needs of the displaced villagers.
A joint press release issued by these three bodies informed that over 600 displaced villagers are being fed by the local people and churches for the last 48 days.
Saying that there are still some displaced villagers in Myanmar even as the State Government is acting unaware of the fact, they remarked that ultimately truth and justice will prevail over corruption and misgovernance playing with the lives of innocent people.
It further noted provision of food and shelter to over 600 displaced villagers, clearing of landmines planted in Kuki inhabited areas, resettlement of the displaced villagers in their own villages and provision of food for two years to these villagers disabled to do jhoom cultivation on account of counter insurgency operations in their villages of Chandel and Churachandpur districts in particular and all hill area in general as immediate necessities.
They maintained that it is the responsibility of the Govt to provide all these necessities.
