Manipuri theatre will occupy a large area in the forthcoming Bharat Ranga Mahotsav 2007, an International Theatre Festival organised by the National School of Drama from January 6 to 20 at seven different venues here.
Three Manipuri plays namely Hanglai directed by Yumnam Rajendra, Acheekpagi Khonjel directed by Lourembam Kishworjit and Sati directed by Heisnam Tomba will be staged on January 12, 16 and 20 respectively in the 15 day long festival.
Hanglai and Acheekpagi Khonjel will be performed at Sri Ram Centre Auditorium and Sati at Abhimanch auditorium.
The 9th edition of the yearly festival will open at Siri Fort Auditorium here on January 6 with the performance of 'noBody' by Sasha Waltz, the celebrated dancer-cum-choreographer from Germany.
Another thought provoking event of the festival will be the Seminar on �' Theatre: Making/Remaking Traditions' to be held daily from 10 am to 1 pm at Triveni Auditorium here from January 8 to 10.On the second day, Heisnam Kanhailal, eminent theatre practitioner from Manipur will read out paper on �' Renewal Process of Ancestral Traditional'.
