Imphal, May 28 2015 :
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that although the NDA government has divested the NE states of the special status category his government shall see to it that there is no dearth of fund for the ADCs for developmental schemes.
He was speaking at the Aimol ground in Chandel district on Thursday in a function organised in connection with the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar and the ADC election campaign.
He said that it smacks of ignorance of the constitution by the union minister of state for tribal affairs who reportedly said that if the BJP is voted to power in the ADC polls the fund will be released direct.
He said that all funds except the central institutes should be released through the state government.
This is a ploy to mislead the people.
He said that it is a known fact that the state government has been doing many things for the development of the tribal areas.
Some political parties should not whip up communal tension, he added.
He also recalled that the union minister of sports had told the people that if the BJP is voted to power a sports ground will be constructed at Churachandpur.
He wanted to know if the ground shall not be constructed if the BJP candidates are not elected.
Referring to a memorandum submitted by the Aimol Tribe Union he said that the authority concerned will be directed to look into the encroachment of land at Pallel-Aimol road by some persons.
He also said that the primary health sub centre in the villlages of the Aimols will be upgraded to PHC.
Besides one community hall will be constructed.
Deputy chief minister Gaikhangam likened the false promises the BJP has been making to the people in order to win some seats to a daylight robbery.
The NDA government had withdrawn the special status category for the NE states.
However the state BJP president Chaoba is saying that it was withdrawn by the Congress government.
It is astounding that while the BJP godfathers say that they had withdrawn the status Chaoba is denying it.
He further said that the BJP is all for banning sale and eating beef.
Even some leaders said that those who relish beef should go to Pakistan.
At this juncture the BJP candidates for the ADC polls are slaughtering cows for feeding beef to the voters.
It will sound the death knell of the BJP, he contended.
Many other Congress elected members were present in the function.
