CCpur cops recover arms used by abductors

The Churachandpur police today recovered several arms and ammunition along with combat dresses believed to have been used by the people who kidnapped a brick kiln owner Friday last.
Displaying the recovered arms before reporters today evening at about 6.30 pm, the SP of Churachandpur Amrita Sinha said the cache was recovered hidden deep inside Teiseng hills today at about 9 am.
Two teams of the district police had set out today to continue their manhunt for the abductors, which they have been actively pursuing along with 25 Assam Rifles since the July 5 kidnapping.
Though the brick field owner was released by the abductors when actively pursued by the security forces, a day after his kidnapping, they have been pursuing the case to arrest the unknown accused, the SP said.
She added that ever since the kidnapping, several operations at specific locations were carried out by them based on inputs they have been receiving from their sources.
Today the police teams sighted few signs during their operation and on further investigation recovered the hidden cache of arms, she told a press briefing at the Churachandpur police station.
The recovered arms on display include 5 assault rifles, one hand grenade and 176 bullets.
The rifles are one AK-56 series along with one magazine, two MA-3 MK-II series along with two magazines, one M4 A1 carbine along with one magazine, and one Heckler & Koch HK33 assault rifles along with 3 magazines.
The bullet haul have been classified as, 158 number of 5.56 series, and 18 number of 7.62 series.
The recovery also includes several pieces of combat dresses.
Interestingly, four of the five assault rifles displayed by the police have red ribbons tied on their barrel.
The SP further noted that investigation is in progress and search operation to nab the abductors will continue unabated in coordination with 25 Assam Rifles.
