Drugs worth Rs 35 lakh seized

WY tablets worth Rs 35 lakh approximately were seized by Jiribam police from two individuals today.
A statement issued by Jiribam SP M Mubi informed that Jiribam police halted a white Bolero jeep at Leingangpokpi village, Jiribam at around 1.30 pm.
On checking the vehicle, 50,000 number of WY tablets were found concealed inside five plastic gunny bags which also contained loose packets of groundnuts.
The police team which also consisted women police personnel also verified the two occupants of the vehicle as Lamneichong Haokip (31) w/o Thangkhopao Haokip of Chikim Veng, Tengnoupal district but presently staying at Moreh Heinoumakhong Leikai Ward No 7 and Thangjam Naoba Meitei (29) s/o late Th Tomba Meitei of Moreh Heinoumakhong Leikai Ward No 7 .
On questioning, the duo disclosed that the drug consignment was imported to India through Moreh and it was meant to be transported to Assam.
A sum of Rs 23,000 was also recovered from the possession who have been promptly arrested apart from registering an FIR at Jiribam police station, it conveyed.
