16 JE cases detected, 1 dead

Imphal, July 09 2019:
Following the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in a few neighbouring States particularly Assam, 16 JE cases have been detected in the State.
Out of the 16 individuals infected by JE in the State this year, one had died of the infection in Senapati district, informed a source.
After one individual infected by JE was discharged from hospital yesterday, there is no one at present which is undergoing JE treatment in any hospital at present, said the source.
Nonetheless, the State Health Department has taken up necessary precautionary measures.
While surveillance against JE has been intensified, the department has geared up to undertake fogging exercise at all places where JE cases are reported.
Meanwhile, two cases of Dengue have been reported from Imphal West and Ukhrul, conveyed the source.
