To establish a close link and functional coordination between Assam Agricultural University (AAU) and FEEDS Groups of Institution (FGI), a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of AAU, VC Dr KM Bujarbaruah at the campus of AAU at Jorhat, yesterday.
The memorandum was signed considering the common desire of AAU and FGI to explore and strengthen the functional relationship in academics and research through Research and Development (R&D) ventures.
Apart from recognising FGI as North Eastern School of Organic Agricultural Sciences, AAU will also recognise FGI as an agricultural educational institution as per the MoU.
The students of FGI will be provided access to digital library facilities in operation at AAU and special opportunities will be awarded to eligible products of AAU for faculty induction of FGI.
The MoU also mentioned to provide special incentives to students admitted from Assam and concession to students from economically backward families by FGI.
Creation of a Resource Centre at AAU, Jorhat for FGI professionals to conduct research, academic study and technology dissemination programme to entrepreneurs, farmers and NGOs and 13 other agreements were also listed in the MoU.
It may be mentioned that College of Horticulture, College of Biotechnology and College of Community Sciences, affiliated to Manipur University, was established at Hengbung, Kangpokpi under FGI in the early part of this year.
Dr KM Bujarbaruah visited the FGI campus at Hengbung recently and assured academic support to the institution.
