Imphal, December 08 2016:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has cautioned all the people of Manipur not to fell prey to the diabolic policy aimed at polarising the masses on ethnic lines.
A statement issued by AMUCO secretary general S Sanjoy asserted that the Government of India and NSCN-IM have been conspiring for a long time to create an artificial division based on ethnicity, and the Government of Manipur, through its several policies, has been helping this sinister conspiracy either knowingly or unknowingly.
Electoral politics aimed only at securing power has also been galvanizing the conspiracy to create an artificial wall of division.
All these factors are collectively responsible for the misery being endured by all sections of people in the State.
The ongoing economic blockade and the retaliatory counter economic blockade are all manifestations of the divisive policies, asserted AMUCO.
Nonetheless, larger majority of the people of Manipur have been marching on the path of 'live together, struggle together and grow together', and this is the right path for all the communities living together in Manipur.
But one major obstacle on this path is the reflection of communalism.
When the UNC imposed economic blockade, all Nagas of Manipur were projected as people determined to disintegrate Manipur and when some sections of people imposed counter economic blockade in the valley, all the people living in the valley were seen as communal elements.
But this is not the reality and this image is fabricated by a handful of people.
It is the collective duty of all the people of Manipur to defeat the conspiracy aimed at creating an artificial wall of division on ethnic line, AMUCO asserted.
People should never indulge in hurling allegations and counter allegations.
Harbouring hatred and animosity amongst the people would only push all the communities into the trap being laid collectively by NSCN-IM and the Government of India, it warned.
Violence and conflicts never bring development or progress in any part of the world at any point of time in mankind's history.
People of Manipur have been steadfastly battling against all attempts to fragment the society on ethnic line and they have been successfully safeguarding the integrity of Manipur, it remarked while urging all sections of people to march collectively on the path of unity and reconciliation, it added.
