Imphal, October 03 2017:
Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO) has urged the authority concerned to nullify the recruitment of staff nurses at JNIMS in 2016 and demanded fresh conduct the recruitment .
Addressing media persons today at its head office located at Hatta, PSO president Ajijur Rahaman said that a recent reply to an RTI application regarding recruitment of staff nurse at JNIMS in 2016 showed irregularities and corrupt practices in the recruitment process .
Ajijur Rahaman said that only 8 OBC (MP) candidates were selected in the recruitment against the 11 seats reserved for OBC (MP).
He added that 33 OBC (MP) candidates were available against the reserved seats and even these candidates were short-listed for viva-voce .
The PSO president expressed high suspicion of nepotism, favouritism and corruption in the recruitment process .
Moreover, not cut off mark was set by the JNIMS Authority in the said recruitment process so that chairman, member secretary and selection committee members can appoint candidates of their choice, he added.
Although there was enough vacant post available for OBC (MP), only 2 candidates were kept in the waiting list without any reason, he decried .
Asserting that the number of reserved seats for OBC (MP) was not increased when the total vacant seats was increased from 219 to 256 as revealed in the final appointment list, Ajijur lamented that the rights of the minority candidates was violated by JNIMS authority .
It demanded the State Government to probe into the alleged irregularities and initiate fitting punishment to the erring officials.
It also demanded the authority concerned to declare the recruitment as null and void and conduct a fresh recruitment instead.
PSO warned of launching agitation if their demands are not heeded.
