Tension gripped border town Moreh this afternoon following a standoff between Manipur police commandos posted there and 24 AR personnel of Moreh post.
According to reliable sources, the incident happened today at around 1.20 pm when two Manipur police commandos posted at Moreh town, who were out in plain clothes, were detained by a team of 24 Assam Rifles.
Sources also mentioned that despite showing their identity cards, the Assam Rifles personnel refused to release the two police commandos.
A team of police commandos led by an officer approached the Assam Rifles later and sought their release.
Still, the AR personnel refused to release the two detained police commandos.
Later, a large team of Moreh Police led by Additional SP, Moreh rushed to the place where the two commandos were detained by Assam Rifles.
A heated argument took place between the police and the AR personnel.
Most of the shops at Moreh downed their shutter following the ugly incident.
Later, the two detained police commandos were released by the Assam Rifle after the problem was sorted out.
