CCpur, February 02 2021:
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has today called for immediate of opening schools in the State saying it is now congenial for the academic session that had been suspended for the past 10 months to resume.
The Government had earlier notified that schools should open for Class IX and above from January 27 .
'It is imminent to right away go ahead with the opening of school session for this year,' said ATSUM general secretary SR Andria today while addressing the press at KSO Churachandpur's office.
Having considered the severity of COVID-19, and after due deliberation on the SoPs issued by the authorities concerned , ATSUM feels that the Government should go ahead with the opening of schools without any further delay, he said.
He claimed that it was irrelevant for the Directorate of Education (S) to ban the reopening of schools now despite the usual academic sessions of the State beginning in the first week of February, as ATSUM feels the same has to open immediately.
He also expressed concern about the order issued by the Director of Education (S) which he said has expressed the intention of the State to have a uniform academic session with CBSE.
ATSUM, he said, has requested the Government to maintain the status quo of the existing academic session.
The student body wished to see that education is given to students at the right time and the State's academic session is also maintained as before and thus will not hesitate to take up its own activities to fulfil the same, he said.
