Imphal, April 27 2009:
Reacting to MPCCI vice-president AK Mirabai's statement published in some local dailies that alleged MPP president Dr L Chandramani was involved in proxy voting at 19/1 polling station of Patsoi A/C, a press statement issued by MPP general secretary S Umananda refuted the statement terming it as baseless.
Umananda asked Congress why the party did not complain at that point of time if they had such doubts.
Maintaining that MPP is ready to conduct repoll in the particular polling station of the Assembly segment to clear public doubts, Umananda asked whether Congress is ready to do the same in 11 polling stations of Andro A/C, where mass malpractices had been reportedly done.
Saying that the demonstration staged by MPP was against deploying of unarmed VDFs in hypersensitive polling stations, Umananda asserted that the party is not attempting to create unreasonable hue and cry but a making sensible democratic protest.
