Nungba public hearing

Government officials today discussed about holding a public hearing for the second time in Nungba regarding oil exploration and drilling in Tamenglong district after the first one was stalled by the public.
An official source informed that Forest and Environment Principal Secretary VK Thakral held a meeting with the DC and the SP of Tamenglong district and the member Secretary of Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) .
Today's meeting was convened after the Jubilant Energy Company asked the State Government to hold a public hearing anew for obtaining environment impact assessment.
It is reported that Jubilant Energy Company would drill oil wells at 13 places of Tamenglong district.
It has been decided that the Tamenglong DC would fix a date for the second public hearing in consultation with MPCB.
Necessary security measures would be taken up to hold the public hearing without any disturbance, informed the source.
Notably, police have registered an FIR case in connection with stalling the first public hearing at Nungba.
In Churachandpur district, Jubilant Energy Company would drill 16 oil wells.
