Prestige Foundation donates ambulance to PHC at Oinam Hill

The Prestige Foundation Bangalore under the aegis of Sunbird Trust has donated one Trax Cruiser Ambulance to the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Oinam Hill on April 15 .
RKS was registered as a society to strengthen and support the work of the PHC, Oinam Hill which is staffed by 3 doctors.
It is said that the RKS approached Col Christopher Rego (retd.), founder and CEO of Sunbird Trust, an NGO working across North East India with the objective of peace through education for sponsoring an ambulance.
Convinced of the need for the ambulance, Col Rego secured the support of Prestige Foundation headed by Irfan Razackto for purchasing the ambulance that would be run by the RKS.
The event at Oinam Hill was graced by Myrna Rego, Sunbird Trust COO; Dr Sonal Sethia, other team members, Dr Pfokheho Pfoze, Director/CMO, District Health Society; Dr Helen Shimray, District Leprosy Officer, the entire fraternity of the PHC and representatives from neighbouring villages.
In his speech, Col Chris Rego said that the ambulance is a token of friendship and kinship from the Sunbird Trust family in Bangalore.
Saying that two schools in the village have also approached the Sunbird Trust for renovation and provision of basic infrastructure like toilets, he stated that the organization could partner with the village community to actualize these requirements.
Addressing the school children present at the remote village, he told them that the entire country is awaiting them warmly with endless opportunities and exhorted them to work hard.
Meanwhile, Dr Pfokheho Pfoze applauded the initiative, adding, "We will do whatever we can to strengthen the health infrastructure.
Longni John Tao, who was instrumental in coordinating the initiative, stated that the whole district of Senapati is facing a shortfall in terms of emergency services.
He also asserted that the intervention of Sunbird Trust could not have come at a better time.
Th Ngulani, ex-Chairman of Oinam Hill Village Authority on behalf of the villagers expressed his gratitude for this initiative.
Col Rego said that his organization is a secular and non-denominational entity that works to educate and empower youth especially in remote, conflict-affected areas of North East India so as to facilitate their employability and gainful employment.
