Imphal West district police commandos arrested two KYKL cadres from two different locations yesterday.
According to a reliable source, a search operation was conducted at Singjamei Chingamakha by a team of Imphal West district, police team led by Th Vikramjit, Imphal West Additional SP (Operations) and P Sanjoy, Imphal west commando OC acting on a specific information shared by 6 Assam Rifles Chinga Post.
The police team arrested KYKL cadre identified as Kongkham Domorendro alias Apabi (45) s/o Indrajit of Singjamei Chingamakha Yanglem Leikai during the operation in the morning.
The source said Domorendro revealed that he is an active member of KYKL working under the command of self styled captain of KYKL, Khundrakpam Somorjit alias Santa Macha alias Radha s/o Kesho of Thanga Lawai Sabal Leikai.
Somoijit is presently staying in Tamu in Myanmar, the source said.
On his disclosure, the police team recovered one 9mm pistol along with a magazine and three live rounds and three Chinese hand grenades from his house.
The pistol and grenades were handed over to him by one Leimapokpam Rajendro alias Ibungo (31) s/o Nando of Ningombam Awang Leikai two weeks back, the source said.
The police team also recovered one mobile phone from Domorendro's possession.
Later, Rajendro was also arrested from his house at around 2.30 pm the same day.
During the spot inquiry, Rajendro stated that he joined KYKL under one Soibam Arun (45) s/o Luwangcha from his locality and presently working under the command of self styled captain Khundrakpam Somoijit alias Santa Macha alias Radha s/o Kesho of Thanga Lawai Sabal Leikai.
The source said that Rajendro had admitted that he along with Domorendro had served demand letters and made demand calls to various educational institutions, oil pumps and hotels under the instruction of Somoijit.
The two cadres along with seized materials were handed over to Singjamei police station by the police team to take up necessary legal action against them, the source added.
