Leakage of COHSEM's Class XII Physics question paper : DESAM calls off stir

Imphal, April 08 2017: Following Chief Minister N Biren's assurance to enquire into the leakage of Physics question paper of the Class XII Exam 2017 conducted by COHSEM, DESAM has called off its proposed agitation temporarily.

Speaking to media persons at their Sagolband Moirang Leirak office this evening, DESAM vice-pre-sident Aheibam Anand said that four representatives of DESAM today called on the Chief Minister and submitted a petition.

During the meeting, N Biren assured that a special committee would enquire into the crisis of question paper leakage and the committee would submit its report within one month.

In case, officials and staff of Education Department are found involved in the crisis, they would be terminated from service.

And if private schools are found involved, their recognition would be cancelled and befitting action would be taken up, Anand conveyed as assured by the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister further assured that the Government would initiate necessary measures to open a question bank for such written examinations through a body under Education Department.

Moreover, a Bill would tabled and passed in the State Assembly in order to check all such unethical practices in examinations.

DESAM secretary organisation and coordination Elangbam Mushuk Meitei who was pulled up and later released in connection with the question leakage said that he received the question paper from a WhatsApp group Matamgi News Update.

Soon after receiving the question paper, concerned authority of COHSEM was informed and they were urged to investigate into the matter but to no avail.

"Even as DESAM has been investigating into the matter, two officers of Imphal police station came and asked me to come to the office of Imphal West Additional SP to talk about the question leakage", Mushuk said.

"Rather than talking anything about the issue, I and three others were produced before media as accused of the question leakage case", he continued.

He went on to decry that the way police treated him was humiliating and defamatory.
