Leakage of COHSEM's Class XII Physics question paper : Edn Minister assures enquiry

Education Minister Th Radheshyam has announced that the leakage of question paper for COHSEM's Class XII Physics exam would be investigated thoroughly so as to ascertain if any staff of Education Department is involved in the fraud.
Speaking to media persons at Babupara here today, Radheshyam stated that police pulled up 16 persons in connection with the crisis of question leakage.
While 14 of them turned out to be juveniles, the remaining four have been released on bail.
Nonetheless, police cyber crime unit has been investigating into the matter and police are hopeful that they can trace the person(s) from whom the question paper got leaked.
There is also a suspicion that some staff of the department might be involved in the question leakage.
As such, an enquiry would be conducted into the incident.
If any staff is found involved in the fraud, the most stringent action would be taken up against them, Radheshyam stated.
The exam was held at 92 centres spread across the hills and the valley, and flying squads were stationed at all the 31 exam centres of the hill districts.
Claiming that the authorities always take due care to avoid such lapses, the Education Minister maintained that it would be difficult to hold the Physics exam anew.
Nonetheless, necessary measures have been put in place to avert such situations in future.
Seeking cooperation from one and all toward avoiding such unethical practices, Radheshyam asserted that quality education cannot be achieved if teachers and parents are involved and/or abetting such fraudulent practices.
Responding to a query raised by media persons about the new initiative to display photographs of teachers at their respective so as to check irregularities and detect proxy teachers, the Education Minister asserted that necessary actions would be taken up against all defaulting teachers.
He also informed that local people would be given preference at the time of recruitment of teachers.
School Education Director N Prabin said that attendance reports of teachers would be collected every week.
Education Commissioner N Lakshmikumar and COHSEM officials were also present at the press meet.
