Inter-village volleyball

Imphal, April 08 2017:
The inter village volleyball tournament 2016-17 organised by Tamei Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division which began on March 31 came to an end.
A total of 24 teams took part in the tournament, according to a statement issued by the PIB (DW), Imphal.
Lower Dikuiram team emerged the winners and were presented a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and full volleyball sports kit.
Brigadier Dipankar Saha, Commander Senapati Brigade was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Other officials who were present included Colonel AK Singh, CO Tamei Battalion, Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, SDO Tamei.
Khijancliu of Hope Foundation Academy, Tamei received first prize in the junior painting and Jessicaliu of Hamei English High School, Tamei won first prize in the senior painting competition.
The ceremony concluded after honouring veteran soldier Ex Sepoy Jamkhosei Chongloi of 2 ASSAM who had participated in World War-II, Anglo Japanese War and 1947-48 Indo-Pak War.
He was presented Rs 25,000 in cash, it added.
