'State is infamouse in drug abuse, HIV/AIDS too'

Like sports and culture identifies Manipur in the world, drug abuse and HIV cases also make the state famous in the world, said Dr H Angomcha in an awareness campaign organised by AMADA at Seijang School, Imphal East.
Speaking as a resource person during the occasion, Dr Angomcha said that heroin, SP tablets and other psychotropic drugs are meant for treatment of certain disorders.
It is made for the good cause for the people.
Many persons including young housewives, youths, even teenagers and children are using tobacco products like Talab and pan.
The increasing trend of youths using such intoxicants is affecting the health and economy of the state, he said.
Advocate Samjit Hawaibam gave lecture on Drug abuse by students and its preventive measures.Superintendent, NCB Regional Unit Imphal talked on Substance Abuse in School, College going Students and Effect of Psycotropic drugs in Body.
President, Seijang Progressive Youth Club L Sobhas, general secretary AMADA Ph Phoni, secretary Resource Mobilisation UCM RK Mangisana, secretary Seijang Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Phurup H Bhanu and secretary Seijang Progressive Youth Club, H Shitaljit attended the function as presidium members.
