Imphal Municipal authorities will start levying Scavenging Tax from all shops, houses and vendors located at Uripok, Nagamapal and Imphal Market areas within a month's time, disclosed Municipal Council chairperson G Moirangjao.
Talking to reporters, G Moirangjao said that the IMC authorities have been unsuccessfully trying to impose the Scavenging Tax in the said areas for quite a while by forming rules under section 74 and section 75 (I) (E) and Section 207 (XIII) of the Manipur Municipality Act 1994 but hastened to add that the said act would be imposed very soon in the interest of the general public.
He also informed that shops, hotels and vendors producing less than 5 kgs of garbage daily will be charged Rs 120, those producing garbages above 5 kgs and below 20 Kgs and above 20 Kgs and below 40 kgs daily will be charged Rs 360 and Rs 500 respectively.
Those producing garbage above 40 Kgs daily will be charged Rs 160 per annum for increase of every 2 Kgs, he added.
In case of garbage produced by families, Moirangjao said that a sum of Rs 40 per annum will be charged from families producing garbage below 5 Kgs daily.
Those producing between 5 Kgs to 20 Kgs and 20 to 40 Kgs daily will be charged Rs 90 and Rs 200 per annum respectively, said Moirangjao adding that Rs 60 will be charged annually for increase of every two Kgs from those producing above 40 Kgs of garbage daily.
Moirangjao also stated that the public may use the services of IMC vehicles for cleaning their respective compounds on payment of Rs 300 for every trip made by the IMC truck while Rs 150 and Rs 10 for every trip made by the IMC tractor and handcart respectively.
IMC EO issued notices on pension denial case: Manipur Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Executive Officer of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) in connection with denial of pension benefit to an employee of the Council.
This followed a complaint petition filed by one Kh Nodiananda Singh of Sagolband Lukram Leirak, a retired Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of the IMC.
The complainant contended that the IMC authority has not paid his pension for the last 5 years and 11 months denying his mea-ns of livelihood.
Having perused his complaint, the rights panel on September 22 issued notice to the EO, IMC asking him to submit a reply on the matter within four weeks.
The Commission also ordered to register the matter as an MHRC case for enquiry under relevant provisions of the protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
