Pledging to carry on the public agitation till demands for complete removal of AFSPA is conceded and guilty security personnel punished members of several women and voluntary organizations staged sit-in-protests at various places.
At Uyumpok Litanmakhong women folks belonging to Meitei, Nepali, Kuki, Vaiphei, Kom and Muslim communities from nearby villages staged sit-in-protest from morning till late afternoon today.
Villagers in and around Taret Khul also paid floral tribute at the portrait of K Memita of Keibi, who had succumbed injuries sustained during police action on peaceful demonstrator last month.
The tribute offering ceremony held in the evening was organized by new Goal Club, Taret Khul.
According to delayed re-ports several hundred agitators comprising of women and youths staged protest at Moirang Turelbung Mandop and Kwakta bazar yesterday in consonance with Wakat Khongjang agitation call given by the Apunba Lup.
Similar protests were also staged at Keishampat, Naoremthong Khulem Leikai and Lamboikhongnangkhong areas yesterday while on September 23 women folks of Phoubakchao, Kangvai and Torbung converged at Torbung Mamang Leikai mandop under Bishnupur district to press for complete withdrawal of AFSPA from the entire State.
Meanwhile, Lamboikhongnangkhong Apunba Nupi Lup, Kangchup Road strongly condemned the State police force to forcibly dispersing women agitators who were staging sit-in-protest at three locations within IMC Ward No 27 yesterday.
The State security personnel not only dispersed the agitators but also made derogatory remarks even going to the extent of charging that the dharnas were being staged to commemorate underground PLA�s raising day.
