Paraolon ambush: Court takes cognizance against 19 accused

The Court of Special Judge, NIA Manipur today took cognizance against 19 persons accused in the Paraolon ambush and named them in a supplementary charge sheet.
The supplementary charge sheet was submitted before the Court on July 5 and prosecution witness number 22 was partially examined by the Court today.
The 19 accused persons listed in the charge sheet are Laishram Anand Meitei @ Anand @ Sana, Moirangthem Uttam @ Tamba, Laishram Jinen @ Angou @ Laba, Pukhrambam Samananda @ Sumon, Thokchom Gandhi @ Paona, Laishram Gulliver @ Simon @ Sgt Gulliver, Takhellambam Ako @ Sgt Raghuveer @ Raghu, Ksh Brojen @ Sanathoi @ Momocha, Angom Sanatomba @ Dinesh, Athokpam Milan @ Pamheiba @ Maipak @ Herojit, Thoudam Somorendro @ Sgt Kabolakpa @ Sono @ Tamulakpa, Oinam Lukok @ Corporal Landaba, Nameirakpam Nanao @ Konao @ Cuba, Starson Lamkang @ Esterson @ Thampu @ Sanajaoba, Ksh Noyon, Shyamkumar @ Hemanta @ Ibohal @ Achouba @ Kirankumar @ Laba @ Kumar, Namoijam Okendro @ OK @ Inaobi @ Sunil @ Loken @ Thoudam Thoiba @ Mahesh, S Mangal @ Panthoi @ Samadram Arun Singh and Sk Stephen Lamkang.
Relevant papers of the charge sheet were also furnished to accused Laishram Anand Meitei @ Anand who was also produced before the Court from judicial custody.
Special PP of NIA submitted before the Court that all the accused persons mentioned in the supplementary charge sheet except Oinam Lukok and Sk Stephen Lamkang were already declared as proclaimed offenders by the Court and prayed for issuing non-bailable warrant of arrest against Oinam Lukok and Sk Stephen Lamkang as they are still absconding.
As pleaded by the NIA, the Court issued non-bailable warrant of arrest against Oinam Lukok and Sk Stephen Lamkang The Court also fixed August 3 for further examination of prosecution witness number 22.It may be mentioned that after the deadly ambush of June 4, 2015, which claimed the lives of 18 army personnel at Paraolon village, Chandel district, the Ministry of Home Affairs handed over the investigation of the case to NIA on June 6 the same year.
From the next day onward, NIA launched necessary investigation by visiting the ambush site and other locations.
