Imphal, October 22 2014:
Demanding clarification on the charges leveled by All Manipur Road Transport Drivers & Motor Workers' Union that an oil tanker driver who came to unload fuel at IOC oil depot at Chingmeirong was brutally beaten up by Y Bhupendra Ghosh, president of All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union; drivers of oil tankers have decided to launch steering-off stir and halt loading of fuel at the oil depot from today.
Announcing these in a press meet at Inter State Bus Terminus at Khuman Lampak, Y Bhupendra Ghosh said that All Manipur Petroleum Transporters' Association; All Manipur Tanker Drivers' Union and All Manipur Inter State Bus Association are endorsing the call of the stir.

He dismissed that the charge leveled against him that he had thrashed an oil tanker driver identified as Niman Lama (34) from Kanglatongbi using gun that left the driver deaf.
However, he admitted that a heated exchange of words had taken place between him and the driver as the latter was trying to unload fuel at the oil depot at a time when other drivers are demanding ROP ahead of oil tankers leaving for loading fuel outside the State.
But no physical assault was committed to the driver, he clarified.
Saying that the interference of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers & Motor Workers' Union into the matter and subsequent attempt to twist the incident are unfair, he demanded both the driver union and the driver to tender an apology for dragging the issue out of proportion.
Further, he also demanded to take back the police case filed against him.
