Bus service flagged off

After the reintroduction of Imphal-Jiribam bus service yesterday, with a first trip from Imphal, a first trip from the Jiribam end was flagged off today by Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam, Robert Kshetrimayum along with ADC Jiribam, A Shivadas Sharma, SP, Jiribam, M Mubi Singh and EO Jiribam Municipal Council, M Rajen Singh .
A total of eight buses will be in service daily, four starting from Jiribam Bazar and another four from ISBT Imphal at 7 am , 8 am, 9 am and 10 am.
The Imphal �Jiribam bus service which was on halt for about eleven years was resumed yesterday considering the public demand and improved condition of the Imphal �Jiri road .
Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam, Robert Kshetrimayum lauded the Imphal-Silchar Road Bus Owners' Welfare Union and United Bus Owners' Welfare Association for their effort in bringing life to the inter-State bus service which was dead for more than a decade .
A Shivadas Sharma also lauded the associations for their contribution and said that the inter-State bus service will definitely ease the inconveniences faced by the people of Jiribam and those who are coming from Imphal .
M Mubi Singh appreciated the organizations for their initiative and appealed the drivers to drive safe and to abstain drugs and alcohol, especially while driving.
