Nupi Marup holds rally, submits memo to Governor seeking end to terrorism

Imphal, June 08 2026:
The All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM), Imphal East and Imphal City District, today staged a rally demanding an immediate end to terrorism in Manipur.
Following the rally, members submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Imphal East Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Secretary.
Prominent leaders including Chana Lembi, Th Sanahanbi, NG Gomati.
Premila, state secretary Th Purnimasi, president S Sorojini, and several other women leaders took part in the rally.
In the memorandum, the Nupi Marup urged that all acts of terrorism in the State be stopped immediately and prevented from recurring.
It called for the proper identification of outsiders in Manipur and for strict action against anti-social elements.
The Nupi Marup demanded that the State Government act to restore public trust or step down, and that fresh elections be held to elect capable public representatives.
It also sought early conduct of long-pending local body elections.
Other key demands included the safe resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons to their homes, swift resolution of the hostage crisis, and disclosure of truth and justice in the Tronglaobi tragedy.
The group further asked the Government of India to immediately stop policies aimed
at fragmenting Manipur.
