Claiming that common diseases have spread and claimed some lives in the past few months in the Tousem sub-division in Tamenglong district in Manipur, the Zeme Naga Council, Manipur (ZNCM) has on Saturday said five health centres in the area do not have a single health worker urging the state Government to send health workers at once.
ZNCM urged the state Government to remove the Bangalore based NGO Karuna Trust, now in a health mission in Tousem, and replace it by the state Health Department health workers.
It said that five different health centres in the sub-divisionTousem PHC, Aben PHSC, Atengba PHSC, Namtiram PHSC and Tangningjam PHSCstill do not have a single health worker.
It also said that villagers in Tousem area had been suffering from many common diseases during this summer and even some lives were claimed due to lack of health workers at the health centres.
Warning that more people might die of these diseases if delayed, the ZNCM appealed to the concerned Government authorities to take prompt action to send health workers to the sub-division.
