Imphal, September 29:
Thanks to efficiency of personnel manning pension section of Account Generals office, Manipur Government employees who served for years still have to undergo mental and physical stress even after retirement.
According to reliable source, it consumes more than a year after service superannuation for the AG staffs, particularly of the pension section, to complete file process so that pensioners could enjoy retirement benefits.
One among several such case concerns a now retired assistant head master of Sawombung High School whose service appointment was effected in February, 1970 with due compliance of all appointment norms like approval of the concerned governing body, said the source.
Inspite of intimation to the AG authorities through submission of relevant document indicating year of appointment, service tenure entitlements etc the said Assistant Head Master is being denied the retirement benefits with Section Officer of the AG repeatedly insisting on reproduction of the document.
The asst headmaster retired on November last year but is still running from pillar to post in the AG office with officials concerned yet to respond positively to the aged pensioner, rued the source while speculating the delaying tactics might have a underlying meaning of indirectly desiring that palms be greased to complete the file process.
The source ridiculing the attitude of the AG officials contended that under normal circumstances there is hardly any reason to consume nearly a year as the matter could be disposed within weeks after submission of document.
