Diphu (Assam), August 18:
The United Peoples' Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) today welcomed the partial withdrawal of Armed Forces (Special) Power Acts from Manipur and demanded that the Act be withdrawn from the entire State and scrapped altogether.
UPDS publicity secretary Tung-eh Nongloda in a statement faxed to PTI said the outfit congratulates the people of Manipur on their spirited and relentless struggle against the "draconian black laws".
He said the people of Manipur had "borne enough suffering at the hand of security forces for decades due to these black laws".
