The proprietor of the Manipur Plastic Industries GG Sharma who went to South Africa last month as a representative of an India business delegation has been invited to take part in the establishment of plastic plants there.
GG Sharma was the lone representative of Manipur in the eight member Indian delegation to South Africa led by chairman of National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) P Kumar.
Talking to media persons today at Hotel Mass, GG Sharma narrated of his visit to South Africa.
On reaching South Africa on March 25, the Indian delegates held a meeting with representatives of the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) at the Indian Consulate there.
The meeting discussed establishment of bottling plants, PVC and HDPE pipe plants and packaged drinking water plants.
GG Sharma is the proprietor of M/S Loktak Industries and M/S Sharma Plastic Pipe Industries.
The entrepreneur who did Plastic Engineering at CIPET, Chennai has also received many national awards.
The Indian delegate signed an MoU with SEDA at the South African capital of Pretoria on March 27.The High Commissioner of the Indian High Commission also assured of cooperation to such joint ventures, conveyed GG Sharma.
The Indian delegates also held a meeting with the representatives of the National Federation of Chambers of Commerce at
Johannesburg.
They also met investors of plastic plants at Durban.
The basic impediment face by plastic industries in South Africa is the prolonged time taken (approximately six months) by big companies in supplying plastic materials.
Even as there are many big industries in South Africa, the number of medium and small scale industries in the country is very little.
Taking into account of these facts, and encouraged by the interest of the people and peaceful and conducive atmosphere prevalent there, GG Sharma expressed his desire to establish plastic plants in the African country, he conveyed.
