Cop drug smugglers remanded to custody till May 6, case filed under NDPS Act

All the 11 police personnel who were apprehended with 4680 strips of Respifed tablets having pseudoephedrine components by Thoubal commandos from Pallel at about 6 am yesterday were produced before the Court of CJM Thoubal today and the remanded to police custody till May 6 .
However, a press release issued by Thoubal SP Dr AK Jhaljit named only 10 police personnel.
The police personnel remanded to police custody include SI Debson and Jemadar Heisnam Pre-mananda s/o H Rupmohon of Iram Siphai Mamang Leikai.
The others are Nongmai-them Priyokumar, S Open- drajit, Th Bijendro, Thanglen-mang Thouthang, M Henik, Ng Premjit, N Surkumar and S Ranbir.
All of them were posted at Moreh commando unit.

The value of the drugs seized from their possession has been pegged at Rs 3,64, 02,000 in the international market.
The apprehended police personnel were travelling in two police Gypsys.
Altogether 5880 strips of Respifed containing pseudoephedrine components and 23 plastic packets containing suspected pseudo- ephedrine tablets were seized from their possession.
Out of the 23 plastic packets, 10 packets filled with 26,400 tablets each, 12 packets filled 18,000 tablets each and one packet was found containing 21,100 tablets.
On spot questioning, Jemadar H Premananda and SI B Debson revealed that the seized drugs were illegal pseudoephedrine B Debson revealed that the seized drugs were illegal pseudoephedrine tablets which were handed over to them by one Md Ali s/o Md Kasim alias Abo of Lilong Leihaokhong at Khongjom Patpal Lamkhai on NH 2 at about 5 am yesterday for transportation and delivery at Moreh to one associate of Md Ali, conveyed the SP.
A case under FIR No 62(4) 2013 KCG PS dated 28/4/2012 U/s ND&PS Act and 27 A Act has been registered against them, it added.
