State sees 877 fresh Covid cases, 16 deaths in last 48 hours

Imphal, August 16 2021: The State registered 877 fresh Covid cases in the last 48 hours on August 15 and August 16 taking the active caseload to 6,270 .

On Sunday (August 15), 602 persons, including 6 personnel from CAPF tested positive for COVID-19 while another 275 cases were added on Monday (August 16), which is the lowest in 110 days.

It is the first time since April 28 where 259 cases were reported that the daily figure has dropped considerably.

The number of COVID-19 deaths reported in the same period is 16 (10 on August 15 and 6 on August 16) .

Now the cumulative number of deaths stands at 1,716 .

The Covid deaths reported in the last 24 hours are from Imphal East (1), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (3) .

It may be mentioned that the daily positivity rate reported on August 15 was 15.41 percent, which is the second highest of the month.

The highest of 15.5 percent was reported on August 9 last.

The 275 (130 male and 145 female) new Covid cases reported in the last 24 hours were tested at RIMS (36), JNIMS (3), District Hospitals (116) and other testing centres (120) and are from Imphal East (88), Imphal West (62), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (39), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (24), Chandel (2), Senapati (9), Tamenglong (5) and Kangpokpi (4) .

As per a statement of COVID-19 Control Room, altogether 2,183 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, thus registering a daily positivity rate of 12.60 percent.

Today, 546 persons were discharged, home isolation (203), RIMS (34), JNIMS (16), CCCs (155) and CHICs (138) .

The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 1,00,559, improving the recovery rate to 92.64 percent as compared to 92.37 percent of Sunday (August 15) .

In the same period, a total of 1447 D-type and 393 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities, according to the Control Room.

On the other hand, 1,440,444 Covid doses have been administered so far (1st dose - 1,167,957 and 2nd dose -2,72,487) .

The number of Covid beds as enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room as on August 16 is RIMS (General beds- 47 and ICU-13), JNIMS (General beds-13, ICU beds-2), Raj Medicity (General beds-57, ICU beds-16), Shija Hospital (General beds-10, ICU beds-4), ILAND Hospital (General beds -15, free of cost), Jivari Hospital, Kakching (General beds-13, ICU beds-7), Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (General beds-19), CMC Koirengei (General beds-30, ICU beds-6), MSF, Little Flower School (ICU beds-10, free of cost) .
