Imphal, April 08 2011:
The cracks within the SPF Ministry following the resignation of DD Thaisii appear to have been mended with a minor reshuffling with Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS) portfolio taken from N Biren and given to Thaisii.
According to an official source, senior Cabinet Minister Phungzathang Tonsing has been relieved of the charge of Tribal Development and Hills and the same has been taken over by the Chief Minister while the portfolio of Science and Technology, which was earlier given to Thaisii has been given to Phungzathang Tonsing.
This is the first time in the history of Manipur, after gaining Statehood, that a Chief Minister has taken charge of TD.
Earlier, it was the practised norms of awarding this portfolio to any MLA from the hill districts.
The latest arrangement, will in all likelihood be a temporary one and Ibobi will hand over this portfolio to the person he deems right.
On the other hand Youth Affairs & Sports portfolio has been given to Thaisii from N Biren.
The YAS portfolio is in addition to his earlier portfolio of Education.

DD Thaisii is the only representative from Senapati district to be included in the Council of Ministers , while Churachandpur has two in the persons of Phungzathang Tonsing and TN Haokip, who is currently holding the PHED and DIPR protfolios.
On the other hand, a team of MPs of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertaking is scheduled to visit Imphal on April 28 .
