Sanjenthong likely to see light of day in April/May

Sanjenthong will be ready for traffic movement by April or May this year while 70 percent of the track laying works for the 84-km long Jiribam-Tupul railway line have been completed, said Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga.
Speaking to reporters after the release of Manipur State Biodiversity Board's calendar at his official chamber yesterday, the Chief Secretary said that track laying works, which are being undertaken by North East Frontier Railways, are progressing well and the railway line would be completed by March next year.
Informing that survey for the Tupul-Imphal section has also been completed, PC Lawmkunga said that the railway line would not only boost transportation but also provide employment to many persons.

It may be mentioned that the Government had already entrusted the respective DCs to process land acquisition for the said railway line.
Regarding Sanjenthong, the Chief Secretary said that completion of the important bridge which connects Imphal East and Imphal West is delayed due to non arrival of metallic hangers from France.
However, the bridge would be completed by April or May this year, he added.
PC Lawmkunga said that CCTV cameras installed at different parts of Imphal city are currently not functioning and it would take some more time to make these cameras functional.
Regarding recovery of skulls and skeletons from the compound of erstwhile Tombisana High School, the Chief Secretary said that there is no fresh report of retrieval of skulls or skeletons from the site, which is being kept protected for further excavation.
Maintaining that huge projects are being planned to develop tourism sector, the Chief Secretary said that the State Government has been able to promote Manipur Sangai Festival to the world.
Additional Chief Secretary Nikhilesh Jha, who holds the charge of Forest and Environment, Agriculture Principal Secretary Ram Muivah, PCCF Bala Prasad and Member Secretary Khaijlian were also present at the calendar release ceremony.
