The Assam's Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate on Tuesdayremanded the Peoples' United Liberation Front (PULF) chairman Kazi UmarFarooq to five days police custody.
Guwahati police which arrested Farooq from a rented house at Chasal area in Guwahati on Monday produced the Pulf chairman before the CJM court on Tuesday.
Farooq was nabbed following the arrest of three Pulf cadres from different areas of the city on Sunday last.
Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Debojit Deuri said that Farooq would be quizzed about the activities of the outfit in the city.
"Today we have informed the arrest to Manipur Police.
The Manipur police team is likely to take him back to Imphal after we complete the investigation during the five days of remand," said Deuri.
"Our interrogation is on and we are trying to extract some details about the outfit from him like their activity in the city and also about the other members of Pulf, if there are any in the city," he said.
Meanwhile, police sources informed that the Islamic outfit based in Manipur had already been on the run due to a crack down by Manipur police on them.
A joint team of Manipur and Karnataka police had also arrested six cadres of the outfit from Mysore on Sunday.
Police said most of the Pulf cadres are on the run now in different places.
