Election triumph reflects performance of party in Government: Sharda
Source: The Sangai Express

Thoubal, October 20 2021: Triumph in an election is the display of people's response to the undertakings and endeavours of a party and its governance, remarked State BJP chief A Sharda.

She was attending a "Mandal and Booth Committee Parvash" programme organised by BJP Khangabok Mandal at Lamding Khumanthem Leikai today.

Speaking at the programme participated by BJP members in Khangabok Assembly Constituency, A Sharda said that people's response based on the work done by the saffron party is crucial for the party to prevail and exuded confidence that the party will surely secure a landslide win in the coming State Assembly election.

On being asked whether she thinks her three-day visit to Thoubal, which is particularly considered a stronghold of Congress, will bear any significance, the State BJP chief maintained that the party will take on the opposition with a renewed strategy and emerge victorious.

"There are separate programmes and policies for the party to defeat the Congress," she revealed.

She continued that BJP is driven by long time welfare programmes and not something which emerges from time to time and particularly during election time.

Her visit is a part of the party's outreach policy to assess the ground reality on whether Government initiated welfare programmes are reaching the real beneficiaries, she said.

The programme which was organised with assistance from intending candidate and former BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president, Thokchom Jadumani was also attended by BJP Thoubal district president, Yumnam Kumarjit; BJP Khangabok Mandal president, L Tomba Khuman; intending candidate, Kh Akhoisana; Kh Menjor and other functionaries of BJP State unit and Thoubal district unit.

Later, Sharda also kicked off the "Thambal Campaign" organised by BJP Khangabok Mandal at the residence of intending candidate, Kh Akhoisana.

She also called upon party workers to remain in constant touch with the party leaders at the occasion while Kh Akhoisana stressed on the importance of maintaining unity among the party workers to help the BJP win from the AC .

"MLA Loken is mentally unstable"
The State BJP chief also attended a similar programme (Mandal Parvash) organised by BJP Heirok Mandal at the residence of Thokchom Radheshyam.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, she came out harshly against Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president N Loken for his statement terming State youth as "mentally ill people".

Saying that it is Loken who is mentally ill and needs to consult a psychiatrist, Sharda also questioned as to why a person, who is supposed to guide and encourage youth, made such a demoralising and an irresponsible statement.

He needs to be taught a fitting lesson for his attitude towards the youth of the State which is constituted by a number of role models, intellectuals and courageous people, she said.

BJP is a disciplined political party with a firm foundation, she said and went on the offensive against the Congress whose only agenda is to tarnish the image of BJP with lies and deceit, she added.

Maintaining that everyone is welcome to join the party, she continued that one of the BJP's objectives is to attain a "Congress-Mukt Bharat" and thus a "Congress-Mukt Manipur".

Taking digs at the Congress, Sharda said that if a party or an individual truly loves and cares for the people, it should live by its promises or words.

While stressing on the role and importance of a political party in forming and running a Government, she also appealed to BJP members to wholeheartedly play their part in effectively implementing Government schemes.

Speaking at the occasion, Heirok AC MLA Thokchom Radheshyam expressed elation over the State unit president's unending commitment towards connecting people and workers at ground level.

He also exuded confidence that her simplicity and dedication will surely strengthen the party more than ever.

While adding that BJP is a unique party and more than 3000 voters from the Assembly segment (Heirok AC) have joined BJP, the former Minister also expressed hope that the party will emerge stronger and secure more than 40 seats in the forthcoming State Assembly election.

Later, A Sharda also led in distributing cooking gas connection to 50 beneficiaries of Heirok under Ujjwala Scheme.

The programme was attended by BJP's booth level functionaries, mahila morcha members and other party workers.
