Imphal, August 07, 2012:
In the midst of various threats received by media houses from certain self acclaimed UG groups lately, bomb threats in two media houses of Imphal caused panic among media fraternity and the general public today.
The bomb threats, however, turned out to be hoax.
At around 2 pm today, Hueiyen Lanpoa received a call on its office landline phone from an unknown person telling the receiver that a bomb has been planted in the office complex and asked everyone in the office to go out before disconnecting the line immediately.
The matter was taken lightly by the receiver at first.
Later on, the receiver informed other media persons about the threatening call.
Out of curiosity, media persons from other firms trooped in to check whether the information was correct or not.
But no bomb was found anywhere.
Nonetheless, considering possible harm to people in the neighbourhood, if at all the claim of the unknown caller was true, police were informed about the incident.
Soon after, a team of Imphal West District Police along with a team of bomb experts arrived at the office of Hueiyen Lanpao.
