Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur to support Nationwide general strike on January 8 and 9

Coordinating Body of Trade Unions Manipur will fully support the two-days Nationwide General Strike on January 8-9 against the anti-people, anti-worker, anti-national policies of the BJP-led NDA Government, called by Central Trade Unions in association with all independent National Federations of Workers and Employees, ofboth Industrial and Service sectors, Central Government and State Government employees, said Laishram Sotinkumar, chairman Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions Manipur and appealed all the workers of Manipur to extend full cooperation and support to make the general strike a grand success in Manipur.
The chairman said this while attending a district convention organized by All India Trade Union Congress Manipiur, Thoubal District Committee at NHM conference hall, CMO complex, Thoubal Wangma as chief guest.
He further expressed utter dismay that the Government instead of working to give the demands of the Central and State employees, farmers, workers etc, has introduced employer friendly Labour codes and added that All India Trade Unions National Convention of Workers including Central Trade Unions and central government employees association decided to go for Nationwide General Strike on January 8-9 against the anti-people, anti-worker, anti-national policies of the BJP-led NDA Government.
It may be mentioned that the National Convention of Workers held a meeting on September 28, 2018, in Mavlankar Hall, New Delhi and decided to go for two days' Nationwide General Strike on 8-9 January against the authoritarian Govt led by PM Narendra Modi.
Sotinkumar continued that for the employees and workers of Manipur, implementaton of 7th Pay Commission in Manipur, implementation of Defined Pension Scheme instead of New Pay Scheme, regularisation of contractual and casual teachers, employees and workers etc, are some of the important demands as part of the nation-wide general strike.
The convention was also attended by convenor Coordinating Body of Trade Union Manipur Kshetrimayum Santa, general secretary All Manipur ASHA Workers' Union Manipur AkThoibi Devi as presidium members.
